Humanity's spiritual welfare is under attack! We live in critical times that call for clarity and breadth of vision, and magnitude of purpose. God is thought dead or no longer reliable or worthy of investigation. But the court has reconvened and is now in session. Listen well to what the latest Divine Messenger has said about such matters and those who are in denial. Consider too the first law of thermodynamics and in physics the law of the Conservation of Energy. Whence cometh the energy for the Big Bang – pray? Like evolution, it just popped out of the void and self-perpetuates itself? No! Every building requires a builder!

Given a one-time belief in God upheld by many atheists, it's perhaps not so much that they disbelieve, rather – they disapprove of His doings and teachings. Given our teachings on good and evil, for Bahá’ís to deride atheists is as inappropriate as the new atheism mocking billions of Christians and Muslims for believing in a supreme Being akin to the tooth fairy.
That atheism, at last, is demonstrably untenable, surely signifies for the sincere seeker of truth, the paramount issue today as humankind confronts the abyss! It’s not that we Bahá’ís see ourselves superior to Christians, Muslims and others when (dis)proving the (non)existence of God, rather – the hallowed Founders of their Traditions hardly elaborated on atheism because the existence of God(s) was pretty much a universal given during former Dispensations. http://biblereasons.com/atheism/ Those earlier Messengers of God, (i.e. in Bahá’í parlance – Manifestations of God) left the question of proof largely to the Lord of the Vineyard, the Glory of God, prophesied in the Old and New Testaments to appear at the end of the age, not the end of the physical world as wrongly understood by many interpreters. “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is come, he will guide you into all truth.” Jesus Christ, (John 16:12) From a Bahá’í frame of reference the Holy Bible is “the Guidance of God” and a “book of celestial Inspiration" in which little appears about atheism vis-à-vis actual proofs based on reasoning for the modern mind. For this disbelieving generation, Baha'i texts aplenty, though little apprehended as yet, render all expounding of atheists as words written on water:
“Every event must needs have an origin and every building a builder. Verily, the Word of God is the Cause which hath preceded the contingent world – a world which is adorned with the splendors of the Ancient of Days, yet is being renewed and regenerated at all times. Immeasurably exalted is the God of Wisdom Who hath raised this sublime structure. Look at the world and ponder a while upon it. It unveileth the book of its own self before thine eyes and revealeth that which the Pen of thy Lord, the Fashioner, the All-Informed, hath inscribed therein. It will acquaint thee with that which is within it and upon it and will give thee such clear explanations as to make thee independent of every eloquent expounder.” Bahá’u’lláh, Tablet of Wisdom.
Although Darwin had abandoned Unitarianism by middle age, his fluctuating belief system never amounted to atheism nor did he disclaim a spiritual dimension found in all human societies: “…all living things have much in common, in their chemical composition, their germinal vesicles, their cellular structure, and their laws of growth and reproduction… Therefore I should infer from analogy that probably all the organic beings which have ever lived on this earth have descended from some one primordial form, into which life was first breathed by the Creator.” (Emphasis, Paul J Desailly:) pdesailly@hotmail.com

In all editions, vary though they do regarding his views on the Creator vis-à-vis evolution, Darwin’s words above closing his key chapter titled Recapitulation and Conclusion are best assessed in an independent investigation of truth rather than relying on the views of aficionados, whether for or against atheism.
The burden of proof lies with atheists, non-believers, non-deists, non-theists, secularists, humanists, pantheists, etc. However that may be, this new Love shatters the old mold: “The Word of God is the king of words and its pervasive influence is incalculable. It hath ever dominated and will continue to dominate the realm of being. The Great Being saith: The Word is the master key for the whole world, inasmuch as through its potency the doors of the hearts of men, which in reality are the doors of heaven, are unlocked…. It is an ocean inexhaustible in riches, comprehending all things. All atheists, in my experience, in the final analysis, base their atheistic views and utterances on what they see as nature being the source of all life, the prime cause etc. notwithstanding that such a stance is now demonstrably untenable:
“Should any one suppose that man is but a part of the world of nature, and he being endowed with these perfections, these being but manifestations of the world of nature, and thus nature is the originator of these perfections and is not deprived therefrom, to him we make reply and say: the part dependeth upon the whole; the part cannot possess perfections whereof the whole is deprived.”

Grayling, Harris, Krauss, Onfray, Whitmarsh et al, in an utterly untenable position concerning their erroneous and damaging notions that religion is essentially a construct of culture, that Scripture is over emphasized and that the Lord God is either nonexistent, irrelevant or malevolent.
To validate atheism in today’s sick world by proffering an ancient Egyptian hieroglyph (as in a single example of one worker’s graffito asking, ‘are the gods real?’) as evidence of abounding disbelief in the gods of antiquity (or in the God of Abraham!) is for serious thinkers implausible and overlooks moreover the monotheism promulgated in the Nile delta by Israelites in various epochs. ‘No’ is the short answer, ‘the gods are not real, but God is!’ To suggest that Socrates, Plato et al were either non-believers or agnostics and that the former was put to death for being an atheist is grossly erroneous revisionism rebutted out of hand on pages 43-51 of PROOF – for the lay person. For opposing the business of polytheism, as with the Prophet Muhammad in Mecca and the Apostle Paul (Acts 17) on the same Mars Hill of Socrates’ trial, and for ‘corrupting’ the youth of Athens on the subject of monotheism the seriously sagacious Socrates was arraigned before the Areopagus, charged with impiety on trumped up charges levelled by venal intellectuals and condemned to death by poison as depicted below. That death penalty heralded an end to the Golden Age of Greece. (ibid, page 48, paragraph 5) Great works of art followed but an intoxicatingly confident spirit of discovery was poisoned along with ‘the gadfly of Athens’.
To suggest that reference to one definition of atheism by Philo of Alexandria in the era of Christ’s ministry, constitutes more than community building on the part of Jewish leaders wisely opposed to shunning, amounts merely to sophistry. In our age of snowballing unbelief to proffer such flimsy evidence to bolster the absurd notion that religion is essentially a construct of culture and that Scripture is over emphasized denotes a cunning perversion of truth in order to seek prestige or as a protest against certain laws of God common to all monotheistic religions: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07z43ds#play
