Malgraŭ multaj grandiozaj bahaaj klopodoj ĉesigi ekbruligadon de la konsumantaj fajroj de rasismo kaj la kancero de materiismo, esenca estingilo, la zamenhofa lingvo aranĝita per sperta zorgo kaj intensa bonvolo kaj sen apartaj fivortoj por malhonori aliulojn, estas jam kvindekjarojn okulfrape maltrafita de bahaaj akademiuloj. Ĉi tiu amatoro staras sole inter bahaaj verkistoj en la angla por kontraŭstari neakcepteblan grupopensadon pri la fundamenta bahaa principo de universala helplingvo kaj pri ĝia gravega esperantokonekso. Due to nescience, perhaps stemming from a failure to independently investigate the truth for oneself or resulting from an excessive love of one's own language(s), which in a Baha'i would amount to prejudice or hypocrisy, millions of Baha'is verbalize in a mantra-like manner the Faith’s entirely correct doctrine that the oneness of humanity overarches all Baha’i objectives in these tumultuous times. # What? Because, demonstrably and chronicled, for decades my co-religionists have avoided the Key for achieving this. What can be said about a community for whose young members Esperanto might as well be an Italian opera set somewhere in utopia? How to draw attention to a major Baha'i problem, i.e., almost without exception intellectuals in the anglophonic Baha’i world remain not even peripherally aware of the Founder's Esperantism? Highly influential leaders among them, as individual followers of Baha’u’llah in Chicago, London, New York and Sydney, shun facts and their few critics. On Red Square in the madding Moscow of late 1990, in the corrupt heart of atheistic communism, this new believer, after 25 years as a delusional atheist, witnessed and chronicled a historical event unforeseen by pundits and writers or by so-called experts in economics, history, etc.: implosion of the mighty Russian Soviet followed by a similar collapse in the so-called soviet republics. Who is surprised now? Listen to yet another generation of such experts at your own risk! Notwithstanding magnificent Baha'i efforts to extinguish the consuming fires of racism and to cure the cancer of materialism, an essential extinguisher – the Zamenhof tongue arranged with sensitivity towards minorities and without sexist descriptors – suffers shocking shunning, long term at the hands of Baha'i academia. The Baha'iness of Baha’i leaders, as pledged on signing on as individual followers of Baha’u’llah, insists that they at least try, otherwise, as stated by the Founder himself, so that the world deems Baha'i spokespersons (and by association the rest of us along with the Faith itself!), as far less hypocritical than the leaders of religion before 1844. Otherwise, “neither the exhortations will cease, nor the evidence presented will become void”. For truth’s sake challenge influential Baha’i leaders with the gift of the gab and access to society to engage the lingual dimensions and duties of their religion.

When the truth comes out how popular will English and Russian remain, as saber rattling is debunked, the legions all come home (déjà vu?) and when Wall Street’s financial behemoth self-destructs again? Along with political unrest there in Red Square, I witnessed, as oligarchs started to move in, a sudden and unexpected diminishment and consequent fall of the mighty Soviet economy and empire together with an associated and persisting decline in the global popularity and teaching of the Russian language. There in the heart of atheistic Communism before disbelieving eyes of apparatchiks galore a full-on Orthodox Christian mass in all its majesty in praise of the Lord immediately preceded, with the sanction of a newly emerging state, a demonstration in favour of the Czar’s return. The complexity of the entire question of language intensifies for Bahá’ís when considering Arabic which Bahá’u’lláh has described as “the richest and vastest of all languages” or Persian which Abdul Baha said, “shall become noteworthy in this cycle; nay, rather, the people shall study it in all the world”. Shoghi Effendi (1897 - 1957), the sole Guardian of the Baha’i Faith, urged many American Baha’i pioneers to study Spanish and to others serving beyond Latin America he prudently recommended English. “Who will riddle me the how and the why?” asked Lord Tennyson.
