WHY ARE NONE OF THESE BAHA’IS ESPERANTISTS? THEY ALL DID PLEDGE TO OBEY ABDUL BAHA!
WHY ARE NONE OF THESE BAHA’IS ESPERANTISTS? THEY ALL DID PLEDGE TO OBEY ABDUL BAHA!

Of the 29 men to serve on the Universal House of Justice since its inauguration in April 1963 Dr. Lutfullah Hakim, a staunch and talented Baha’i of Jewish extraction who died in 1968 at the age of 80, is the only one to ever become an Esperantist! https://news.bahai.org/story/1258/
“…we encourage Bahá’ís who feel the urge to assist in this area (i.e. “the framework of their efforts for the promotion of peace”) to learn Esperanto.” Universal House of Justice, 17 Sept 1986.
On learning Esperanto as stated by Shoghi Effendi, 30 Jan 1926: “…an easy language in both its spoken and written forms.” “Exert your utmost endeavour, then, in this praiseworthy undertaking…”
“Bahá’ís shall consider the study of this language [Esperanto] as an incumbent duty upon them and it will be to them a religious duty.” Abdul Baha, q.v. The Greatest Instrument, p15. GR. 2015 https://www.amazon.com/Greatest-Instrument-Promoting-Harmony-Civilization/product-reviews/085398591X
“Now praise be to God that Dr. Zamenhof has invented the Esperanto language…Therefore, every one of us must study this language and spread it as far as possible.” Abdul Baha in Bahá’u’lláh and the New Era, defined by Shoghi Effendi in God Passes By as authoritative.
The significance of these directives penned by Abdul Baha (and the Guardian!) urging Baha’is to engage Esperanto is not interpreted by the Universal House of Justice for Shoghi Effendi by his own pen expanded on 17 April 1927: “repeated and emphatic admonitions of Abdul Baha.”

An open letter to the average Baha’i re the auxlang principle. OMG. The culmination of thirty years of admonishing Baha’i academics!
“Once he [Shoghi Effendi] remarked to me that it was a great pity so many good people lacked good judgment and so many intelligent people lacked good character, pointing out that the ideal thing was a good person who was intelligent at the same time.” Ruhiyyih Khanum, The Priceless Pearl, Ch. 12.
Which of these two categories is more responsible for retarding enrolments? (Matt. 19:17 All are faulty! *)
If, like me, you too are not an academic, it’s not all your fault that you do not follow House instructions re the auxiliary language principle as penned officially in its primary statement to the peoples of the world, i.e. The Promise of World Peace. Nor is it all your fault if you fail to comply with Abdul Baha’s directives about Esperanto in Baha’u’llah and the New Era. Though the Universal House of Justice is the world body ordained by Baha’u’llah in the Sixth Ishraq with the historic task of language selection, our supreme institution understandably expands only occasionally on this subject because the time is not yet right, it wisely states as a divinely protected institution, for selecting an auxiliary international language for every student in every school in the world. It falls ergo to Baha’i academics, the 9 House members as individuals and to proprietors of Baha’i Blogs as highly influential followers of Baha’u’llah to compose and to air sound advice, to proffer suggestions and above all to follow Haifa’s explicit instructions in The Promise of World Peace to the end that consultation on the principle itself ensues:
“A fundamental lack of communication between peoples seriously undermines efforts towards world peace. Adopting an international auxiliary language would go far to resolving this problem and necessitates the most urgent attention.” Universal House of Justice, The Promise of World Peace, 1985.
In this crucial document, which primarily sets forth a dozen of the Faith’s essential principles as the road map toward world peace, the auxiliary language principle alone is assigned such importance as to be referenced in the imperative and the superlative. Because the principle itself is never discussed properly in any Baha’i milieu the wider world too heeds not its urgency
Baha’i academics for two generations not only did fail demonstrably to meaningfully consult on this fundamental principle of our Faith, they did wilfully and egregiously obstruct the process, disdained their critics in the Esperantists’ media and did shun their coreligionists who had rebuked them. Anonymous Baha’i intellectuals with jurisdiction only in America even had the temerity to tamper with Dr. Esslemont’s section on language in Baha’u’llah and the New Era, written by a Hand of the Cause for the benefit of the entire world, in such a way that the reader discerns no untoward emending that is incorrect to boot. My task as whistle-blower is not to determine whether their actions emanate from a lust for leadership propped up by their tremendous knowledge of the English language or because they are just plain ignorant about the Writings on Esperanto as penned by the Centre of the Covenant, whom they did pledge in writing on joining the Faith – to obey! Either way, their breach of the Covenant and-or obscurantism, as perpetrated by some of the worst enemies of the Faith from within it, results in ongoing damage which is reflected in an appalling stasis of enrolments for 35 years. Honto maksimuma!
Tangibly demonstrating to non-Baha’is something better than what they already possess must remain elusive until the Baha’i community is seen as a model practising via transparent and adequate consultation what its own solution to the Babel problem entails. It's not that our dear Baha'i siblings in academe are murderers or are stealing the Crown Jewels! No, but many influential Baha’i academics overly enamoured of English and Farsi shun every point of the 19 listed in this two-page flyer. They must lift their game or just get out of the way. https://www.bandeeducation.com/the-principle-of-a-universal-auxiliary-language
Baha'u'llah says we must admonish those who fail in their responsibilities, q.v. Compilation p. 242:
“In all things it is necessary to consult. This matter should be forcibly stressed by thee so that consultation may be observed by all. The intent of what hath been revealed by the Pen of the Most High is that consultation may be fully carried out among the friends, inasmuch as it is and will always be a cause of awareness and of awakening and a source of good and well-being.”
